2. Operate & maintain various greenhouse components

  • Understand various greenhouse components.

  • Familiarize with sprinklers, foggers, & misters.

Equipment Required: Various greenhouse equipment such as ventilating fans, carbon dioxide units, special lighting, cooling pads, germination equipment, and others.

3. Manage greenhouse operations

  • Prepare different growing media for plants.
  • Undertake planting, weeding, irrigation/fertigation.
  • Control measures for insects, rodents, pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies.

  • Monitor plant growth regularly and record anomalies & actions.

Equipment Required: Benches, tables, plant carts, containers for plants, spraying equipment, watering equipment, and tools such as sickle, hoe, spade, etc.

4. Maintain Health & Safety at the workplace

Details:

  1. Description: Trainer’s responsibility includes educating trainees about greenhouse components, maintaining the greenhouse environment, and managing various greenhouse operations.
  2. Personal Attributes: Subject Matter Expert with good communication, leadership, observation, and practical-oriented skills.
  3. Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Agriculture/Horticulture.
  4. Domain Certification: Certified for the job role of “Greenhouse Operator” mapped to QP “AGR/Q1003, v1.0”. Minimum accepted score is 80%.
  5. Platform Certification: Recommended certification for the job role of “Trainer” is mapped to Qualification Pack “SSC/Q1402”. The minimum accepted percentage, as per SSC guidelines, is 70%.
  6. Experience:
    • M.Sc (Horticulture) with 1 Year experience.
    • B.Sc.(Horticulture) with 3 Years of experience.
    • Any Graduate with 5+ years experience in a relevant field.
    • Any +2 having 7/8 Years of experience in Greenhouse operations.

Sector Skill Council: Agriculture

Guidelines for Assessment:

  1. The Sector Skill Council will establish assessment criteria for each Qualification Pack. Marks will be assigned to each Performance Criteria (PC) based on its importance in the National Occupational Standards (NOS). Additionally, the SSC will determine the proportion of marks for theory and practical skills for each PC.
  2. The assessment for the theory part will be based on a knowledge bank of questions created by the SSC.
  3. Assessment agencies will create custom question papers for theory exams at each center based on the assessment criteria.
  4. Based on these criteria, individual assessment agencies will create unique evaluations for skill practicals for every student at each examination/training center.
  5. To pass the Qualification Pack, every trainee should score at least 50% in aggregate.
  6. The marks are allocated per course; however, each learning outcome will have a specific weightage in the total marks assigned to the corresponding question paper.
